Summary:
Please find below a detailed account of the issues experienced today.
* 12:32 we experienced a partial outage with our Flexiscale platform due to power issues at the Data centre, our automated recovery process kicked in and migrated all servers on the affected nodes to backup nodes and connectivity for the affected servers was compromised for a few short minutes.
* 12:49 we experienced a complete outage of the Flexiscale platform, this was due to a double power failure at the Data centre.
* 13:05 Power was restored and by 13:15 the physical platform was recovered.
We have automatically recovered all servers that were running on Flexiscale prior to the outage.
Work has already begun on building multiple virtual platforms across geographically separated data centres, allowing us to automatically migrate server instances from data centre to data centre thus negating the risk of power outages.
Update: 2009-07-15 14:35 BST
All virtual servers that were up previously have been restored to a running state. Please contact support if you experience any ongoing problems, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Update: 2009-07-15 13:10 BST
The issue was caused by a faulty power supply in a physical machine which had a knock-on effect on additional parts of the platform. A number of virtual servers will have experienced a sudden shutdown. Power has been restored and the physical problem resolved. We are currently working to start up virtual servers that were shutdown, this work is anticipated to take between one and two hours. Please contact support with your virtual server ID if your servers show as 'Stopped' in the Control Panel but were previously 'Running'

We are experiencing an outage of an isolated part of the FlexiScale service. Servers which have been affected by this should have rebooted onto another node. If your server has not started back up please contact our support department.
